In the 1940s Charlotte Perriand’s exhibit “Tradition, Selection, Creation”, sponsored by the French Embassy, resulted in Perriand’s appointment to Advisor to Japanese Industrial Art Production. This exhibit at Takashimaya Department Store in Tokyo demonstrated how Kidokuro’s Bamboo Chair design was influenced by Alvar Aalto’s Tank Chair, showing the cantilever feature with the two chairs side by side
