Rare ceiling lamp by Paavo Tynell.

Finland, late 1940s.
Manufactured by Taito Oy.

Solid brass with triangular pinpoint perforation, frosted glass diffuser.

Shade only: 39 D x 29 H cm (15 D x 11.4 H in).
Drop shown without shade: 81 cm (adjustable drop 90-300 cm) 31.8 in (adjustable drop 35-118 in).
Total height: 120 cm (47 in).

Very good condition, some wear due to its age. Fully restored to it's original condition.

Paavo Tynell (1890-1973) "The Man Who Illuminated Finland" was a Finnish industrial designer with a specialty in lighting design. He was also co-founder of the art metal work and lighting company Oy Taito Ab and had a successful career as a freelance designer for various companies and architects such as Alvar Aalto and Aarne Ervi. ~
