Paavo Tynell Floor Lamp, Model 9602, 1950s

Model 9602, Floor Lamp, also known as “Chinese Hat” was designed by Paavo Tynell in 1935 for the Hotel Aulanko.

Made in Finland and manufactured by Idman Oy, circa 1940s

Solid brass, metal, rattan and original silk shade.

Measures: 24 diameter x 60 h inches.

Impressed with manufactures mark.

Paavo Tynell (1890-1973) "The Man Who Illuminated Finland" was a Finnish industrial designer with a specialty in lighting design. He was also co-founder of the art metal work and lighting company Oy Taito Ab and had a successful career as a freelance designer for various companies and architects such as Alvar Aalto and Aarne Ervi. ~
